We are a month into the new year. How are you doing on your goals?
According to Health.com, only seventy-five percent of people are on track even after a week.
Are you sticking with them?
Or are they already tossed aside?
Their statistics also say in 6 months, only fifty-percent are still going strong. (Which is much better than I assumed).
If you aren’t doing so well, lets re-evaluate. It’s not too late, the new year has barely rolled out.
Are they specific or too generic?
Don’t set the goal of reading your bible more. Set the goal of reading at least one verse first thing every morning, or pick a read though the bible plan which maps out what to read daily.
Don’t set a goal of getting into shape. Set the goal of going to the gym three days a week to the yoga class, or the step class etc… Finding a workout partner is even better. If my sis didn’t meet me at the YMCA on Wednesdays and Fridays, I’m sure I would skip more. But because I know she’s there, I drag myself across town and am always glad I did AFTER I’m done.
Don’t set the goal of becoming a better cook. Set the goal of buying a cookbook and preparing a new dish from it once a week.
Don’t set the goal of reading more, relaxing more, having dinner with friends more. BE SPECIFIC and you will have a much better chance of success.
For years I would never write down my goals and just have a loose list rattling around in my head.
Read my bible more, pray more, exercise more, eat better, write more, be a better wife, mother etc…,etc…,etc…What does any of that even mean?
No wonder I did such a poor job of keeping my goals. As I analyze it, I would conclude that by not speaking or writing my goals, there was no accountability. If I failed miserably in my quest, no one would ever know.
I’ll share my spiritual goals:
1.Read the bible verse of the day from my app every day. Tweet it out or other verses on my heart.
2. Read though the bible in a year following a plan in my app which designates a daily chapter to read .
So If you’ve already fallen off the wagon, it’s ok to start again.
Just decide your new year starts in February, not January.

1 Timothy 1:5 The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.

-It’s ok to start small and build on it each year. Share here if you would like. It helps to put it in writing.
