There are unspeakably selfish acts,
The actions of those who think that their cause is sacred above all else and that civilians are just collateral damage,
Just warm bodies to shoot cold and force the world to stand up and notice.
Yet what have they done of note? Freed their people in a war? Provided education for their women? Raised their oppressed? NO!
They again have made the news for ending the innocent lives of the unsuspecting, the unarmed and the innocuous.
Dishonorable and cowardly are the words that fly from my fingertips.
Not so many years ago, if you killed an unarmed person you were a low-life coward and despised by the all. Are we so far from those days that the morality of humankind has changed?
Or have these murderous peoples simply been like Cain since the beginning, and now we ARE taking notice because they are targeting US, the “civilized?”
And here we sit, appalled, yet feeling protected by distance,
We in our nice houses. We in our warm beds. We in our bubble of false-security. How soon we forget.
129 dead
352 injured
Paris,
The magical city of light–turned to the city of darkness, of massacre, of hate.
And then there are the heroes among us, the ones that remind us that humanity is still alive and well.
And that tragedy after tragedy cannot quell the beating of the hearts of these people,
The unselfish souls like eleven year old La’Darious, who saw death speeding toward his small sister.
In an unhesitating instant, he pushed her out of harms way, only to be hit full force by a fifty-seven year old coward. She who zoomed away as if there wasn’t a child’s body in the road, a body with the life slowly ebbing away.
Pray peace for Paris.
For the lives shattered,
For the loss untold
For the haunted dreams of a future never the same and a people scarred and broken.
We should remember,
We should empathize,
We in Oklahoma,
4-19-1995
149 dead
19 were children
680+ injured
And NYC
9-11-2001
2,996 dead
6000+ injured
And while the evil one rejoices in another victory, the God of heaven remains in control,
Marking time,
Watching,
As they spin futile threads of plots and plans and strategic maneuvers.
All the while God knows in his time he will gather us up and overthrow evil once and for all—and vengeance will be his.
And Peace will be ours,
The faithful,
Forever in his arms.

Ps 46:1 God our help in trouble, our ever-present help in times of need.
-Though our fleeting time on this earth may be fraught with sickness and sadness, wars and mayhem, remember his promise and trust him to get us through.
-Say a prayer right now for our troubled world and ask him to help you remember– he is in control and will banish your worry.
