I’d like to think I would do the right thing.
I’d like to think I could squelch my true nature for such an earth shattering event.
I’d like to think I would choose the best, the golden opportunity, the eternal.

If he suddenly walked into my living room tonight, what would I do? Would I invite him in and sit at his feet, or would I rush nervously around–
*Making sure he had the the best chair, (The Preacher’s well worn leather chair and ottoman).
*Self-conscientiously grabbing up yesterday’s mail from the sofa, and the empty coffee cups on the side table.
*Asking if he wanted tea, coffee, milk or water. (The only offerings I keep around).
*Frantically surveying my sparse cupboards, (I knew I should have stopped at the grocery store yesterday)!
*Looking for something nice to whip up quickly, or if I just pop some popcorn would that do? But I can’t just make do–
This is MY BELOVED SAVIOR in MY living room!
Flitting from one room to the next, straining to hear his soft words, fearful of missing anything, wishing he wouldn’t start without me, yet driven to be sure everyone else is cared for,
And HIM most of all.
He pierces me with a look and quietly says, “It’s ok to sit at my feet and take care of yourself for a change. You like them to compliment you. You work hard be the perfect hostess. But it is all vanity. I offer you freely what is ETERNAL. In years to come, no one will remember what you served but you will remember my words if you will but sit with me. My words will keep you warm as the storms rage and the days become dark. I will be your light, your path out of the mists of turmoil and uncertainty.”
“I have no need of you to take care of me, but I will always be YOUR Shepherd. I know this is the way you show love and concern, but rest easy with me and remember that I see your servants’ heart.”
YET NEVER put your service before ME.
Ouch!
If you are a Mary, I envy you.

Luke 10:41-42 “Martha, Martha, the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed–or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
-What would you do if Jesus physically came to your home today unannounced?
-Remember that Jesus IS in your house everyday in spirit and you should sit at his feet in daily study. Make a plan to do it.

Thank you for this reminder. I’m definitely more Martha-minded by nature.

We have to remind ourselves to be still don’t we! Thanks for the comment Steph!
